LSU football product Brandon LaFell scored the first touchdown of Super Bowl 49 when he beat another former LSU player on a slant to catch an 11-yard pass by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

LaFell slanted in front of Seattle Seahawks defensive back Tharold Simon and caught the pass at the goal line with 9:51 left in the second quarter. The touchdown put the Patriots up 7-0.
